Elliot Mann is running for Edina School Board

My name is Elliot Mann, and I am a father of three young children in Edina Public Schools. I have extensive experience working with school boards and in state governance through my previous work as a newspaper reporter, and also as a campaign volunteer. I believe in the promise of public education, and also in creating strong links between our schools and our community.

I hope to gain your support on Election Day, Nov. 7.

Detailed Experience

I have studied and reported on school board issues like budget cuts, school boundary issues, and long-range planning for several years as a newspaper reporter. I understand the complexities of school funding, the proper roles of the school board, as well as how our state government fits into so much of what we do at the board level.

Through my hundreds of hours of reporting on school boards, I’ve found boards that worked together well, and ones that had members going in several different directions. The Edina School Board is currently in a good place, and I’d like to join them on their path to educating all of our students.

Dedicated Advocacy

A personal mantra that has always informed my mindset is: “Be the adult you needed when you were a child.” I enjoy watching children reach new heights they didn’t believe they could attain, which is why I regularly volunteer to coach youth sports, and activities, or help out in the classroom. I believe we should advocate for all of our students, making sure that every student feels welcome, knows they are valuable, and can realize their potential.

Community Focused

I believe that strong public schools are the foundation to a vibrant community. Like many of our neighbors, we moved to Edina for the award-winning public schools. We have so many great opportunities to offer our students in Edina, it is our work in the district and in the board to connect our students to those possibilities. With my unique involvement working with school boards as a newspaper reporter, I can mix my advocacy as a father of young children with that detailed experience. In order to have a community that is well connected to each other, I feel it is important for all of us to find ways to bring our skills and background forward to help.

I want to see all of our Edina students thrive, and I would like to work with the school board to deliver on these goals.
